Itineraries
Guide updated · verify Parks SA the morning you go
These plans are built for real Port Lincoln overnights — drive time, heat and bookings included — not fantasy “do everything” checklists. Pick the plan that matches your group, then open it for a full timeline, packing notes and what to skip. Print from any plan page, or grab the free day-trip checklist (PDF / HTML) and the practical planner (PDF / HTML).
Every itinerary defers to Parks SA for track status and alerts. Hard walks only appear where the plan names them — and only when official status is open.
Which plan fits you?
- Half-day Stamford — first overnight; monument plus beach, not Memory Cove.
- Full-day Donington — peninsula loop and September Beach on sealed roads.
- Overnight camp + dunes — book camping; 4WD; check the Sleaford alert.
- Whale-season lookouts — May–October, Wanna / Lone Pine; not guaranteed.
- Memory Cove day — book + key; 15 vehicles; 4WD.
If two plans both “sound good,” pick the shorter one. You can always upgrade on the ground; you cannot invent daylight on the highway home.

Half to full day in whale season
Whale-season lookouts (May–October)
May–October visitors who want southern right whales from Wanna and Lone Pine — not a guaranteed sighting
Parks SA: each year between May and October you may spot southern right whales off the Sleaford Bay coastline in Thorny Passage Marine Park. Most accessible spotting is from Wanna and Lone Pine lookouts. Bring optics, patience and a 4WD plan if the lookout roads need it.

Itineraries FAQ
Tap a question to expand the answer.
Which itinerary should I print first?
If this is your first Port Lincoln overnight, print the half-day Stamford Hill plan. If you already have a Memory Cove booking and key plan, print that instead. Wanna dunes only with 4WD and a live alert check.
Can I combine two itineraries in one day?
No. Each plan is already a full coastal or town-plus-one-walk day. Stacking two timelines is how groups finish Proper Bay Road in the dark.
