Park overview

Lincoln National Park covers the south-eastern tip of the Eyre Peninsula — Boston Bay granite, Sleaford–Wanna dunes and Memory Cove Wilderness Protection Area. There is one main vehicle entrance (Proper Bay Road). This hub is how you pick a corner that matches time, vehicle class and bookings, then open a deeper area guide.

Always verify live conditions on the official Parks SA park page and alerts. This site is independent and unofficial.

How to choose an area

Stamford Hill / Boston Bay: sealed-road first hour — Flinders Monument and granite coves.

Cape Donington / September Beach: peninsula loop, lighthouse, campground.

Sleaford–Wanna dunes: 4WD, Southern Ocean, whale lookouts. Check the western entrance alert.

Memory Cove: booked key, 15 vehicles a day — not a Stamford add-on.

Recommended order: sleep in Port Lincoln, pay vehicle entry, check Parks SA and CFS, do one walk, and have a Plan B sealed-road day if the dune track or Memory Cove cap fails.

Geography in plain English

Think of Lincoln National Park as two coasts sharing one gate: Boston Bay granite (Stamford, Surfleet, Donington) on the harbour side; Sleaford–Wanna dunes and Memory Cove on the Southern Ocean / wilderness side. Port Lincoln is where you eat, sleep, fill fuel and collect the Memory Cove key. The park holds the tracks, camps and locked gate.

Adelaide is about 8 hours / 665–680 km (Parks SA). Budget that drive as part of the trip, not an afterthought — this is not a capital day-trip park.

Park areas FAQ

Tap a question to expand the answer.

Stamford Hill or Memory Cove for a first overnight?

Stamford Hill. Sealed-road, 1.6 km return, no key. Memory Cove needs a booking, a Port Lincoln VIC key, a 15-vehicle cap and usually 4WD. Do not treat them as the same beach.

Can I visit Donington and the Wanna dunes on the same Adelaide trip?

Not as two full days stacked on a same-day return. Overnight in Port Lincoln first. Pick one park face. Keep Stamford Hill as Plan B if the dune track is closed.

Where does the Investigator Trail fit?

Official Parks SA sections (30.7 km / 36 km / 26.3 km treks) — not a casual lookout and not an official 80–90 km circuit. Navigation and water required.
